The fact that companies are generating more information than ever before, coupled with the relatively new trend of increased social media and mobile device use in the workforce, creates many records management challenges for the modern, connected company. How can you ensure your business is retaining the correct type -- and amount -- of seemingly endless information, all while remaining compliant with relevant regulations?
SearchCompliance.com Associate Editor Ben Cole recently sat down with Brian Hill, a principal analyst at Forrester Research, to discuss corporate records management in response to these obstacles. Hill, an expert on records and retention management initiatives, archiving strategies and enterprise content management, said limited resources often compound an organization's records management headaches.
"Records management leaders are often playing catch-up -- less than 5% report that their organization has incorporated RM [records management] requirements in adopting or planning for cloud-based services, social media or mobile devices," Hill said.
In this podcast, Hill provides insight about the latest corporate records management trends and advice for developing records management policy and accompanying implementation guidelines. He also outlines concerns about records management in the cloud and the specific features companies should look for when seeking a records management solution.
